Tippett Quartet and Mark van der Wiel

Alpheton New Maltings studio was developed by conductor Robert King as a purpose-built music recording venue, suited equally to classical recording, video and film on a very modest budget. The main studio, tall enough to provide ample reverberance for chamber and choral music, is designed to blend with the local architecture and achieve planning permission.

Sound Space Vision provided acoustics and lighting design advice, specifying adjustable acoustic curtains to allow a wide range of acoustical flexibility. We also added omnidirectional lighting that is flexible for any room layout. Importantly, the lighting is silent – a prerequisite for any recording studio.
